update to 13.10 causes sound lag on ATI priority driver

Hi All,
this is a bit hard to describe.

After my system updated to 13.10, when I run my own code (sdl with opengl that ran fine on 13.04 ) sound effects appear to run before my graphics. As an example if I hit the fire button a spaceship play the fire sound then fire about 1 1/2 seconds later, if I hit an object I will hear the explosion then see the object explode on screen a second and a half later.

All ran fine in 13.04 and if I install the non priority drivers the sound/inputs/graphics are in sync, but obviously run slow compared to the priority.

Has anyone else had this issue? I presume it's not SDL related as the non priority drives don't have this lag. This lag on graphics doesn't appear to happen built in software like audacity, or the input doesn't happen on keys in say gedit. Only on my own code, that runs fine on 13.04 and below. It's as if the graphics react a second and a half to slow.

sudo lspci -nnk | grep -A10 VGA, shows

Code:
00:01.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Wrestler [Radeon HD 6320] [1002:9806]
Subsystem: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD] Device [1022:1511]
	Kernel driver in use: fglrx_pci
00:01.1 Audio device [0403]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Wrestler HDMI Audio [1002:1314]
Subsystem: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD] Device [1022:1511]
	Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel
00:04.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD] Family 14h Processor Root Port [1022:1512]
	Kernel driver in use: pcieport
00:05.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD] Family 14h Processor Root Port [1022:1513]
	Kernel driver in use: pcieport
00:06.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD] Family 14h Processor Root Port [1022:1514]

Thanks in advanced

The problem seems to be your code, no?

How much of a performance gap, do you believe, exists between the radeon driver and the fglrx (proprietary) driver?

Hi,
I don't think it's my code as it runs fine on Ubuntu 13.04 and below. Also on ATI drivers it runs full speed, that is the frame rate appears to be good, it's just sound and inputs are out of sync, by about a second and a half, eg press shot, bullet sound is played, second and a half later animation happens on screen, but plays at full speed ( at least appears to ). With the "free" drivers everything is in sync, but as you'd expect it runs slower, about 75%. I think this must be a driver or some screen issue introduced in 13.10, but can find anyone else reporting it... It may be some change in SDL in upgrade, but I don't think SDL has changed for years. Also the sound, input, screen update are all in sync with free drivers.

No I would not expect this. How do you arrive at your 75% figure?

I'm not doing a FPS counter, I'm just observing what speed it appears to runs at, and it is noticeably slower that the priority on 13.04, or even 13.10 with it's display lag.
If your a developer I can add a frame counter to the software and give you the results.
