Unrar problem: missing `GLIBC_2.4'

I just installed Rar3.7.0 from Rarlab. Then I wanted to use unrar for the first time, but my bash told me:

unrar: /lib32/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.4' not found (required by unrar)

What package must I install to aquire the necessary `GLIBC_2.4'?

Kubuntu shouldn't need additional utilities to extract anything. KDE base includes the neccessary libraries already. I would suggest you remove the offending progam and if you still can't open up the rar files then have a look through the package manager to find a program that is far more likely to work.

Very good idea, but an insufficient solution.
The standard Ubuntu package does not supply me with the rar utility, which is very needed.
This is because rar/unrar is not freeware, you have to pay a licence fee.
