Unknown Error - System shuts down

Hey !

I have got this issue since I have changed on my DELL Inspiron 6000, the motherboard (but it is identical to the "old" one), the cooling system and the keyboard (some keys were missing...), due to some over-heating problems.

My computer shuts down without advising. Usually when it shuts down I am streaming on youtube or watching a movie (I can barely watch 5 minutes).

The computer shuts down properly, but does not give me any errors.

Did anyone see/read/have this issue ?

Where shall I look in order to get the problem solved in order to understand where the error is, because all the statements above could contain some errors of analysis from my part...

Moreover, I have another problem with 2 of my 3 ubuntu boxes: they do not want to update the system... As soon as I launch the update box, it freezes the update manager. Plus, Synaptic doesn't launch. When I succeed in looking the Process Manager, there are usually some gksu (it depends on how many times I tried to open one of the administrative tools,

how can I solve this also ?

Thank you very much for your help.

Cheers,

fp

1. check temperature etc from bios.

Also

# su
# hdparm -I /dev/hda

etc

2 Ubuntu

# sudo apt-get check

# sudo apt-get update

# sudo synaptic

etc

see why you have the problem?
