Unity 3D and games like SuperTux 2 and Neverball does not working.
Hello, friends. I am using Ubuntu 11.10 oneiric on a Dell Inspirion 660s with Intel Pentium. Today I installed Super Tux 2 and Neverball, but found that both games were not working correctly, that is, the game is slow and stops repetedly. I guessed that it is a problem of OpenGL. I found that the packages libgl1-mesa-glx and libgl1-mesa-glx. I updated those and restarted the computer. Then I found that Unity 3D is not working properly. I can log in by using Unity 2D by using the Ubuntu 2D option on log in screen. The games worked once, but now they show a black window. This creates a serious problem now.
Thanks for help.
Did these games work once with the same Ubuntu system on the same computer? How did you install the software you mention. The version of Ubuntu you are using has not been supported since May, 2013 so you can't easily get software from their repositories as it is not available through standard methods. How old is the computer hardware?

These games worked before the update, though with the pausing problem which I think is due to slow fps rate. You are right, Ubuntu 11.10 is not supported, but I changed my repositories to "http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/ubuntu precise" using the Software Sources application that is pre-installed with my OS. Then I upgraded several packages like "libc6-bin". It worked and works fine, so I can install packages now. I first installed SuperTux 2 and Neverball using Ubuntu Software Center. Then I noticed the problem. I checked the dependencies of SuperTux 2. Then I upgraded "libgl1-mesa-glx" using Synaptic, but after a restart, that does not worked. Then I upgraded "libgl1-mesa-dri" which automatically installed "libllvm3.0" and updated "libdrm-intel1". After this finished, I restarted the system and found that after login, the screen only showed my wallpaper and it is flickering. The menubar and launcher was not visible. I was later able to login in the Unity 2D mode and played the games once. But when I tried that again, the games showed the black window. Now I am unable to open any OpenGl application. The screen starts flickering and becomes unresponsive. The hardware is new, as the computer was brought several months ago.

Reason: Incomplete information.
this game builds and works just fine even on my almost antique Pentium4 CPU computer with a 14 year old Nvidia gforce2 mx400 card and ONLY 1 gig of ram on a vacuumtube CRT monitor set at 1280x960
Sorry, but I had to restore the entire OS using Dell Recovery to its factory shipped state. I previously tried installing all the updates, but this further broke the Unity 2D interface also and I was unable to do anything except the restoration. I found that the problem is due to the unofficial repository which from which I cannot install some of the most important packages. Hopefully, the restoration solved the problems with Unity.
