hi every body
i have slackware 10.2
and i want to use ubuntu
so i want to uninstall my slack
beside my slack there is my windows
my slack is in hda10
and i have a swap partition in hda9
can any body help?
There's nothing you really need to do. Backup all your data and then go and install Ubuntu, choosing to reformat the partitions you used for Slack. If you don't want to use the same partitioning scheme, just delete those partitions and make new ones. Ubuntu's should let you install the bootloader to the MBR, so you shouldn't have problems with that.
no harm give it a last shot if your card is settable at all ... if fried , just get a(or a few) new/used one ... they are cheap ... not worth it to give up because of one net-card ...
//hmm ... guess that dos is dead ...
[EDIT ::]after reading more of your posting ... theres one thing i found funny ... why do you need to delete your slackware ?? it doesnt make any sense ...
those are diagnostic tools for net cards ... have been trying to list the card parameters but fail with "operation not allowed" , i i still donno why ...
anyway i tried some short testing with rtl8139b(compex) , rtl8029(donno the brand) , intel utp controller(compaq but forgotten to note down the intel no.) and dfe-530tx(vt3043 rhine) on ubuntu ... all of these work except for that rtl8139b which is kind of like very brand new ... i havent try 3com but i believe it should works well enough ...
i think you should get yourself another netcard ... all of my net card are used cards and they are cheap enough ...
