Uninstall Software

I attempted to install Hula-project on my ubuntu server. When I noticed it was going to remove my existing imap/pop3 daemon I stopped it with cntrl+c. Now my installer keeps telling me to apt-get -f install to correct the problem, but it's still trying to force me to uninstall imap/pop3. How can I reverse this without removing anything?(I don't want hula anymore).

if you compiled try a make uninstall, or if u used apt-get try using synaptic to find and delete the broken package

apt-get remove programname

wrong, apt will fail with a requirement of running apt-get -f install first which will in turn try to remove those packages I *don't* want removed.
