[SOLVED] Ubuntu

I'm a long time user of Fedora and recent convert to Ubuntu. There are several reasons for my change in preference but they are not the cause of this post.

Ubuntu has strayed from the conventional structure of /usr/src and, being an old-timer resistant to change, I'm curious to know why.

If anyone can explain the rationale here it would be appreciated.

The "Redhat" Fedora Linux : has a special Redhat /usr/src/.......
Non conventional ? Free software, do as you like, rationale
or no rationale, and Redhat made a "private" redhat folder.

All other but Redhat and some Redhat based :
No redhat/ or kernels/ directories in /usr/src/.

Ubuntu is Debian based, and so far concerns the /usr/src/
department : quite conventional.
