Ubuntu Thin Client Local Devices

I can't get local devices (i.e. CD-Rom drives, Floppys, USB drives, etc.) working on my Ubuntu thin clients. I've read about it in their wiki, but there is not much on it. I upgraded to Edgy in hopes that it would work, no go. I'm wondering if anyone can point me to some info or how-to's on this, or if you have personal expierience, please post.

According to this article the local device support is turned off by default so you will need to turn it on as administrator on the server you are connecting to.

Cool to see you had some additional information, I was unable to locate that wiki when I was researching the issue you were having. Have you gotten your local devices working now?

I installed the edubuntu server and removed the kids stuff. Local devices work great So far the biggest issues I've encountered are:

1- Skype audio doesn't work. Supposed to be fixed in Feisty Fawn release.
2- Printing to a HP Laserjet connected to a D-link access-point doesn't work. Not a problem, I'll just plug the printer into the server.
3- Can't use serial mice on the thin clients, they aren't recognized by X. Still researching this, but if there is no fix, I'll use USB mice.
4- Boot-up could be quite a bit faster, it takes almost 50sec. on a 1GB network.
5- Firefox crashed when accessing flash sites, fixed this here: http://www.google.com/search?q=flash...ient=firefox-a

Ubuntu's LTSP is evolving slowly and I think it has reached the time were it can be implemented on a network. I'm sure most of the above issues can be worked out soon.
Now I wanna find out how to make those thin clients to not load unnecessary drives and peripheral ports...
