Ubuntu startx wont load
Hello,
I installed ubuntu minimal using the command line option so I can get a base system and then install components manually, specifically lxqt without the lxde bloat of lubuntu 17.04. What is odd is that while I do get the sddm screen on a new bootup, trying to use startx from console gives me just a blank screen. It appears to init x and i get a mouse cursor but thats it. I can however log into my desktop from sddm. Is there anyway to get around that or some fix? |
As an update, I did the command xinit and this time it gave me text output saying it cant reach the xserver, then my vm crashed. I dont think the crash was related it just kept me from getting any new details for now, but why would it not be able to connect via xinit but it starts sddm on startup just fine?
