ubuntu shipit 5.04 cd fails to boot

install cd for ubuntu 5.04 that I ordered from the ubuntu site will not boot at all.
ubuntu live cd works fine.

I notice that there is no auto.inf or start.exe file on the install cd

did i get a bad batch of cds from ubuntu?

with install cd in the drive at power up, the computer checks the drive but cannot 'find' the cd in it....

Using the LiveCD with the 'tomem' (I think) option, or a 2nd drive, try checking the md5sum of the CD.

Also, autorun.inf and such things are purely in a windows world. What DO you see on the CD?

I got mine a month or so ago and all of them boot. You might have gotten a bad batch. Have you tried it on another computer? If you have 2 optical drives have you tried it in both?

Mine seem to be working. I've at least tested x86, no x86-64 or ppc.
