ubuntu question: cannot open System > Administration > Users and Groups
help guys
after i tried to add a new user, I cannot open the Users and Groups panel anymore, I get a message saying I am not allowed to accedd the configuration. I also tried accessing it from the terminal using users-admin and the error i get is Code:
invalid string constant "#E4E4E4", expected valid string constant (users-admin:7611): Gtk-WARNING **: GtkSpinButton: setting an adjustment with non-zero page size is deprecated Also it is interestimng to note that afgter adding that user i couldnt sudo anymore with my old one. I had to visudo and add myself to sudoers list. Could this be because i called the other user simply admin? Any clue is most welcome. |
Ubuntu's security system becomes unwieldy if you have more than one user. I suggest that you create a root user and do all of your administrative tasks as root.

The root account is locked by default in Ubuntu; and it is not recommended to use it. See this:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RootSudo You can administer users and groups with simple terminal commands like this: https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/serverg...anagement.html |
