Ubuntu on Macbook Pro 2.16GHz Core Duo

Hi
I'm trying to do a clean install of Ubuntu on my one year old MBP. I don't want to Dual Boot. I tried just running it straight off the 7.04 cd but i ran into trouble with configuring X. I have been looking at various guides online but none of them have shown me how I can install without using any OSX cd. I do not have an OSX install Disk.

thank you

i am posting links to photos of the error:

could it be that i need to download a different ubuntu build?

when doing the install i followed these instructions as well:

"To prevent a kernel panic which might occasionally occur, press F6 and enter one of the following parameters at the boot: prompt:
lpj=8000000 (for 2 GHz MacBook)..."

since i have a 2.16GHz MPB, would i need to enter a different number perhaps?

i get taken back to ubuntu@ubuntu:-$_

could i enter something here to make it install?
