ubuntu + mythtv + lirc - how easy it is?


i ask this as i have been fighting with slackware for the last 3 days to get the remote for the hvr-1100 card i have, the remote is plugged into the card, and after 3 days its beging to annony me no end, and how good is ubuntu with newish hardware as i have a amd 64 x2 (all nvidia stuff) that i would like to use as the htpc instead of windows mce2005

from experience, ubuntu is really good with newish hardware (and software!) so i reckon it should work ok. take a look at this page:
