i tried the edgy beta livecd and it worked fine however when i got to the desktop and tried the modemlights applet i got a message it was broken and did i want to delete it. i really want to install edgy beta but i have to be sure the modem applet will work as i have dialup. anyone else encounter this problem? , and if so after installing does the applet work? any help would be appreiated

i cant figure this out:
i tried the edgy livecd on three computers: amd athlon 64 -3700 2.4 ghz with 1 gig ram 250 gb hd and an ati raedon 9550 i get all kinds of error to hdc. ihave a p4 3.0ghz 2 gigs mem 250 gig hd , an ati x800xt the screen goes blank i also have a p3 750 384 gb mem 80 gig hd and edgy boots with no problems. can anyone figure

Not a dialup user myself so I use the Network Manager applet to see activity. If I click that icon and select the configure button, the display that pops up lets me activate a modem connection. I would think that means I can use a modem for my network connection. Perhaps the Modem Monitor does something similar and creates the LEDs we used to have on standalone modems. Perhaps nice but not necessary. You should report your problem to the Edgy team.
