[SOLVED] Ubuntu Live USB And An LG xnote lu20-xx, freezes after ubuntu screen

Hey LQ!

It feels good to be back. I have a minor problem. I'm trying not to go out and buy a USB-O.D.D, so i made a bootable usb key, it boots, it loads up until the ubuntu screen (the purple screen with 5 white-orange dots) and then it cacks. it freezes for ∞ and doesnt do a thing. ill post specs later, if that helps.. this forum has helped me in the past.

EDIT: managed to install ubu 9.04, now it wont connect to wifi.. at all.

9.04 is not supported, so I wouldn't use that. Use either 12.04 LTS or 13.04.

What I would do is go into the grub boot menu, edit the Ubuntu entry, and find these two words:

Code:

splash quiet

Change them to say this:

Code:

nosplash noquiet

What this will do is show the usual scrolling text that is normally hidden by the splash screen. If you see anything odd (such as a kernel panic) or see it stopping at a certain point, you can post it here.

i would use 12.04 or 13.04, but i highly doubt, seeing as the computer i am using at the moment, barely ran 12.04 last summer, and both this desktop and the laptop mentioned above have practically the same specs. and seeing as i could barely install xp pro without problems...i have it up and running. it has a centrino 1.5ghz with 512mb ram and 32mb vcard.
