ubuntu install freezes if left alone

hi there,
I just successfully insalled ubuntu on my p4, but find that if i leave it for twenty miuntes or so switched on, it freezes up and i have to reboot. Sometimes it freezes with a screensaver frozen, one time it just froze and the tft hailed 'no input'

can anyone help me in the right direction here please, or give me an answer to this?

any thoughts appreciated,
howard

Just a guess, but it could be power management for your monitor. Try disabling that in the Screensaver preferences. Power Management can sometimes do funny things.

Other than that, I have no idea :)

ok I've tried that, I'll leave it on and see.
Thanks regardless,
Howard

Hi howard:

I seem to remember reading on another forum about some folks having the same problem. What it boiled down to was the folks that were having the same problem as yours had changed their theme to something other than the default Ubuntu theme and I don't remember which theme was the culprit. The short fix was to change the theme back to the default theme.

I know the brown seems yucky, at least I thought so at first but now the brown default has grown on me a bit :p

Hope this helps a little bit Howard.

Take care................

Rob
