ubuntu gutsy shutdown failed


i have installed ubuntu gusty on my little laptop when i was trying to shutdown it came up with a mesage cannot iterate something like that

Need not worry (at that point anyway), just power it down -- if you need to, hold the power button down for a few seconds (usually 5-7 seconds is enough) and it should power off. If it resists, remove battery. Then reboot and see what it does..it'll probably do a file system check during the boot process (because of an unclean shutdown), so you may have to wait a little there; when it is up again, try shutting it down and see if it works now.
