Exclamation Ubuntu "Gutsy" install issue

hi all,

i have just received 2 ubuntu 7.10 cds from canonical.
was really excited to get my hands on the new release.. however i am in for a new surprise:
the cd boots normally, but when i select install(normal/safe gfx), check cd for defects... all i get is a blank screen with 1 line on top:

" [xxxx.xxx] pci: unable to allocate memory xxxxx.xxx "
where xxxx.xxx is a sequence of some nos..

my system config is:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+
AMD 690G + ATI Xpress 1250
1 GB RAM

Any ideas/suggestions on this..??

Try the "noapci" boot option, maybe. Actually, you should read through and try some of the different boot parameters and see what you get, as well.

i looked at what happened after selecting the install options, and found that the
/casper/vmlinuz and /casper/initrd.gz are not loading into memory..

what could be the reason for this.. as i have a 64-bit edition of ubuntu fiesty whose CD works fine!!

I would see if there was any "shadow" or cache ram turned on in the BIOS and try it with that turned off. It's a pretty strange error, no doubt.

In one of my previous posts I said to try the "noacpi" option. I had forgotten that this has been changed to "acpi=off". I'm sorry. Maybe you could try that.
