Ubuntu freezes during installation menu

I have been having problems with almost all types of Distros. I am creating a bootable USB using LIVE USB CREATOR, everything works fine up to that point. When I restart my windows 8 I successfully see the Ubuntu install menu with the options, but it does not allow me to enter any key or click on anything, it basically freezes itself. Does any one have a solution to this issue? I have a class and I need to have Ubuntu up and running in my system, I would appreciate any efforts, thank you!

You restart W8 and see an Ubuntu menu?

This does not sound correct.

First give us the straight story on what you are doing and perhaps we can help.

What kind of hardware are you on?

Have you changed your bios so that you boot from a usb device first?

What version of Ubuntu are you using?

Are you really rebooting your computer when you say you are "restarting W8"?

W8, like Ubuntu, is an operating system. Your computer is a device that needs an operating system of some sort to run it.

Try using UNetbootin to create a usb installer for Ubuntu: http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
Although that page does not list the current version of Ubuntu, which is 12.10, it should work fine with Ubuntu 12.10.
Unetbootin can be run from Windows as well as Linux.

You could also use Infra Recorder to create a bootable CD to install Ubuntu: http://infrarecorder.org/
See this tutorial for using Infra Recorder: http://partedmagic.com/doku.php?id=c..._infrarecorder
Be sure to burn the CD at the slowest possible speed to avoid errors.
Then when you boot the CD, hit the space bar and choose the option to check the CD for defects from the menu that comes up. This will insure that there are no errors on the disc.
Write back if you need more help.
And welcome to the LQ forums!
