Ubuntu beginner's guide
 

I have seen the starter's guide, but is there a Ubuntu guide for big time novices, I am currently using Mandrake, but I haven't done anything with it yet, so I could easily install or uninstall it no prob, so can anyone help me?

I am not sure which guide you are talking about, but I found this one extremely useful:

it has practically everything you need to know to configure Ubuntu nicely _after_ you've installed it. The installation is pretty simple too, so there should not be any problems in there. It is not as pretty as Mandrake's installer, but easy nonetheless.

I couldn't install it right, the GUI wouldn't install, I found Mandrake incredibly easy to install, but Ubuntu woudn't work, so I had to re-install Mandrake
