Ubuntu + Amarok

I got a fresh install of ubuntu. I installed amarok for the mp3 playlist capabilities. Once I try to play Mp3's, I am getting a GStreamer Error: OSS... already in use..

I tried to lookup stuff on google but not finding alot with this exact error. I read one thing where it said I have to install the gstreamer... so i looked on the universal (even multiverse) for anything with gstreamer*... and installed eveything. Still get error. I tried playing with the engine settings without any luck, now i ma back at the defaults.

any ideas? how can i find out what else is using gstreamer, if indeed the case?

thanks!

edited: by the way... other sounds do work... example: system sounds

maybe you are playing 2 things at the same time or you try to kill a music/video application which is still running.

I got it to work using the Gstreamer engine, the alsasink output plugin and using 'default' as device.

Maybe these settings work for you as well, as long as your alsa is configured properly.

Yes, I think you'll need to use one of the sound servers to pipe amaroK output to - either Alsa sink or ESD sink (depending on whether you're using KDE or Gnome)

Oh, and for anybody who's run into trouble with 'no engines' available - er, it seems that during the stock install of Kubuntu at least, they forgot to install the amaroK engines package by default... install that, and you're away.
