The repositories (and all Ubuntu sites) are down. It'll be fixed soon enough, so uncomment all of the installer-commented lines and wait a day or two.

Theres another post talking about the whole ubuntu.org/com/forums being down, reposit's and all, people are working on it (GOD BLESS THEM!)

Reminds me how much I depend on the net AND those repositories now!

Man, I need to get 3DDesktop working to show my friends, but with the repos down I can't get build-essential to compile it. Maybe it's on my server-install CD.

Ubuntu has been down from Texas all morning. It must be a major problem.

So the Texans brought it down??? Not working here in California, either. The sites are just down. Period.

*whew!*

Wow! I was starting to get worried. I thought I had messed something up and would have to reinstall the whole system. Yeah, everything's down for me too, here in Florida. I hope they get it all sorted out soon.

Is there a site on the WWW that keeps up with major disruptions, new developments, etc. in Web traffic, where a person could find out about breakdowns like these? If there isn't, I sure wish somebody (who could afford it!) would start one.

I was going to help a friend with a brand-new Ubuntu installation yesterday; he wants to get away from Windows and into friendlier territory. But as happened to another user above, looks like we picked the wrong day.

You can use the list of mirrors from Google cache of ubuntu.com/download to find some apt mirrors.
eg http://ubuntu.mirrors.tds.net/ubuntu/

I would just like to get some of my favorites that aren't included in Mepis 6.0.

I have merged the "Ubuntu is down" threads into one and stickied it. This should keep the complaints and discussions and investigations in one place.
