Ubuntu 8.04 Superuser Privileges
I have been trying to install Java on my system and have done a bit of research to get as far as I am however now have a slight problem. Through Terminal, I was able to do the following : sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts and it appeared that everything was going well. Now I happened to look in Synaptic Package Manager and an error box is displayed as follows E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report. When I go to Terminal to do this I get the message that a superuser privilege is required however I have only the one password that I have used to perform different operations in Terminal before. How can I get around this since the Synaptic Package Manager is not useable until this is corrected. Thanks.
