Ubuntu 8.04 install on Dimension 4500s halts

I have a Dell Dimension 4500s that I'm trying to install 8.04 on. I'm using the alternate ISO. It halts at 6% on Select and Install Software every time. It just says Please wait... I've tried 5 times, even swapping the HDD and memory. I ran hardware tests, all pass. Any thoughts?

After leaving it for almost an hour, it started to progress, but said the step failed. I retried the step and it failed again, though it went faster the 2nd time.
