Ubuntu 7.10 Sound Problems
 
Hey guys, I have been having a problem with my sound. I have an SB Live! Platinum CT4760P Sound card. Its wierd, sometimes when I boot into Ubuntu it works and sometimes it doesnt, any ideas?

EDIT: I ran the lspci command heres what I got.

Mine, also. I have an Ensoniq card and about half the time it doesn't work. Rebooting seems to help.

Try using the ALSA configure utility "asoundconf".

After upgrading to 7.10, my audio also quit. Apparently Ubuntu mistakenly chose the wrong audio chipset as my default. I used "asoundconf list" to list the card/chipset that's available, then "asoundconf set-default-card Live" to select my SB Live card as the default.

All worked fine thereafter. You may need to select ALSA manually in the "System->Preferences->Sound" menu. YMMV.
