ubuntu 7.10 install problem on old pc
I have a old pc with a 333mhz celeron it's a old gateway I am having problems getting ubuntu to install on it. I can get pclinux live cd to run on it. But the unbuntu 7.10 desk top for i386 will not boot so I tried the cd that has the text install instead first I get a video mode error but if I hit the Esc key it boots to the install page. I get half way though and it stops after it checks for the disk drive it asks me to pick the driver for it its just a plain old wd300 its not on the list the drive is clean it was re-formatted before I put it in. There are no partitions on in it yet. The list had a wd700 on it but that did not work it would ask me to partition the drive but it dose not show me how to do that. I have another extra drive
that I am using as and external drive with my new pc thats running vista ugh
should I partition that one first? I read that unbuntu partitions the hd for you. anyone anyone?
