How do I run Quicktime files in Ubuntu 7.10? I did Install the codects the Documintation told me to do now any media player I use to open a Quicktime file crashes. What do I do?
I followed this https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu and it worked fine for me. I can play DVD's watch video clips etc..
Let us know what you followed nad if your using mplayer or totem etc..?
Thouse where the directions that I had followed. I have Totem and VLC and bouth programs crash when trying to Play Quicktime files all other media types play just fine, (AVI, WMV, MPEG).
I started by Installing ubuntu-restricted-extras and then I installed the w32codecs. All media playes fine except the quicktime wich crashes in any media player I use.
Hear is what hapens at command line when useing VLC with a .mov file.

I also tride Linux mint based on Ubuntu 7.10 on that same system. Linux mint has the codecs loaded. It still wouldn't play the media files. Eather it's an error with the newer codecs on my system or the Kernal.
