Ubuntu 7.0.4 install failed due to no hard drive detected

My Ubuntu 7.0.4 install failed due to no hard drive partition detected during the "install step 4 of 7", and I can't manually prepare the partion either.

Any one has any idea?

what kind of hard drive is it?
Is it set to master or slave?
Did it detect the hard drive at all, for you said partitions were not detected.
Has this hard drive worked before, if applicable was windows installed on this at some point?
What kind of computer is it?

I know this is a lot of questions but myself have never seen this before so i need to know the complete picture. In the future it's good to add the specification, or parameters of whats in question.

Yeah, sorry. Should've thought of that.

The hard drive is Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB Serial-ATA-II (SATA-II) and it's set as master. I've already installed Windows XP and it works fine. When trying to install Ubuntu it doesn't recognize the hard drive at all.

MSI P965 Neo-F LGA775 ATX

From what i can tell your hard drive may or may not like linux. Depending on your BIOS and motherboard, which allow different operating modes for your hard drive which could effect linux if they are enable. If you look here, you will see what i mean. I would recommend finding out if one of these modes are enable and is so disable it if possible.
