UBUNTU 6.10 LAMP Server with KDE ?

Hello Everyone,

I have a problem that's driving me crazy. I installed Kubuntu 6.10 Desktop on an old Pentium 3 machine. Everything worked fine.

Later I wanted to have the same machine running LAMP. I used the Ubuntu 6.10 Server cd and chose the LAMP option. Everything installed fine. Then issued the following command to install KDE:

sudo aptitude install kubuntu-desktop

When the installation finished and I restarted, the screen became garbled and then froze.
This is the same machine that ran Kubuntu fine.

Is there something I am doing wrong. Can I use an Alternate cd to install Lamp and KDE at the same time?

Thanks,

Jesse

try installing "kde" (without the quotes) instead of the full kubuntu desktop. 'kde' is a meta-package for the kde desktop with some fluff and without the extras that are included in kubuntu-desktop.

hope that works for you,

Thank you for the reply Iggy, but I already tried that. I ended up just installing the ubuntu desktop and downloading apache, mysql, and php.

Case closed. Thanks again for the suggestion.
