Ubuntu 5.10(64) & Flash

I recently ran in to a problem where I can't install flash on my ubuntu box because I'm running the 64 bit version. Is there a 64 bit version of flash that I can use? Or is there just a simple way around this?

I don't think there is a 64-bit version of Flash. You should use the 32-bit version of your browser and the 32-bit version of Flash.

There is also GplFlash, but it only plays very old versions of Flash.

If you head over to ubuntuforums.com there's a subsection of help for 64bit systems. I know there were a few threads giving instructions for a couple of different options in the hoary section. There's not as much for breezy yet I don't think, but you could probably find some instructions, or see if the the any of the hoary ones can be modified.

I have installed gplflash on this system, and he's right about it only being able to play old versions of flash. But it does stop the 'plugin missing' message on Firefox. The total of it is that unless you install the 32 bit firefox, you won't have full flash available. Macromedia will not be working on a 64 bit version of flash anytime in the near future. There is a gplflash2 project in the works, but it's still very much in alpha only.
