Ubuntu-18-lts:problem with mate-tweaks when encrypted drive?

Hallo All,

I've been trying out Ubuntu 18 lts( first time).
I installed on one laptop with mate desktop and played around with mate-tweak tool and other setting a bit.
I then installed on another laptop ( and reinstalled ) with encryption.
On that laptop I couldn't switch themes in mate-tweak tool any more.

I guess I have to test this further ( could be other setting I changed ) but I am just wondering if this is a known issue?

Many thanks.
J.

On the surface, without knowing any of the coding information, it is a known issue.

You may want to research the following document issued by Ubuntu.com

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ma...ASE_READ_FIRST

I do hope that this helps your situation.

Hello,

thank you very much for the reply.

I think what you are referring to is the Ubiquity bug?
But this applies mostly to dual boot if I see it right....

Although is could be a Ubiquity bug due to it was an installation problem; I was not directly referring to the Ubiquity bug.

To help understand this problem more better, is it possible to give the results to the following code concerning "System Information" on both machines:
Code:

Code:
$ sudo dmidecode | grep -A 9

Hello,

at the moment I "installed over" both machines.
I will configure an Ubuntu machine asap and get back to you.

Thanks for the help.

greetings, J.

Hello,

I tried to test this further today.
I installed Ubuntu-Mate with encryption on our main laptop:

[QUOTE]
agovers
description: Laptop
product: Latitude 3570 (06F3)
vendor: Dell Inc.
serial: B1MHYD2
width: 64 bits
[QUOTE]

dmidecode | grep -A 9 gives EM, full
output of dmidecode is below.

The only way I can switch Mate Theme is by logging in from another machine with -X
Then run mate-tweak
choose another theme
run pkill -KILL -u user
Then the theme is changed.

On top of that, the console doesn't work on this laptop.
auto-comletion doesn't work, going back to previous command with arrow-up doesn't work.

Greetings, J
