Ubuntu 18.04 command line enable location services.

All,

Yes, I know how to do this via GUI.

https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubunt...cation.html.en

There should be a command line gsettings type thing or something which could be preceeded to turn location services on with ISO.

Anybody know the command line method of doing this?

I googled for linux geolocation and received a few results, which I didn’t review. The first one was https://www.ostechnix.com/get-geoloc...andline-linux/.

If it's in gsettings, you might find it with:

Code:
gsettings list-recursively | grep location
I'm running Mint 19, not Ubuntu, but on my system it comes up with:

Code:
org.gnome.system.location enabled false
which might be what you're looking for. In saying that, Ubuntu might use its own config elsewhere. You could switch location off and on using the GUI and see if it affects the above setting.

Yeppers, that was the nudge I needed.

Code:
developer@developer-U18-04-64-bit-dev-VirtualBox:~$ gsettings list-recursively | grep location
org.gnome.nautilus.window-state start-with-location-bar true
org.gnome.GWeather default-location ('', 'KNYC', @m(dd) nothing)
org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser location-mode 'path-bar'
org.gnome.rhythmbox.rhythmdb locations @as []
org.gnome.rhythmbox.podcast download-location ''
org.gnome.system.location max-accuracy-level 'exact'
org.gnome.system.location enabled false
org.gnome.nautilus.preferences always-use-location-entry false
after setting via GUI.

Code:

Bullseye. If you want to mark the thread as "Solved" then you can do by using "Thread Tools" at the top of the thread. However, you may first want to check that changing the gsetting value works in the opposite direction too.
