Ubuntu 16.04.3 Can no longer mount cifs drive from credential file
hello all,
This is a new issue on a machine that had the cifs share working fine up till I assume the last mount update. I can no longer mount a cifs drive using a credentials file from either the fstab or command line.
when I try mount -a I get
mount error(13): Permission denied
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)
The machine has no trouble mounting from the command line using ' -o user=,password=' but I don't want the credentials in my fstab which is how I had it setup before.
I have tried changing the .credentials file to 666 and I am of course doing this as root, to make sure that a file permissions are not the issue, & the credentials are correct in the file.
My machine is Ubuntu 16.04.3, using the 4.48 kernel with mount version 2.27.1-6ubuntu3.3, cifs-utils 2:6.4-1ubuntu1.1.
from my syslog
Nov 20 12:09:19 espressobin kernel: [106835.963960] Status code returned 0xc000006d NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Nov 20 12:09:19 espressobin kernel: [106835.963990] CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -13
Nov 20 12:09:19 espressobin kernel: [106835.969401] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13
my .credentials file
user=myuser
password=mypassword
I have also tried
user='myuser' & user = myuser both had no luck.
my fstab
# qbittorrent download dir on hizouse
//192.168.1.124/downloads /mnt/hizouse cifs credentials=/.qbit-samba-creds,sec=ntlmssp -1 0
Any help or advice would be awesome, Thanks!!
EDIT: Looks like there may have been a carriage return in the .credentials file that was trowing it off.
