Ubuntu 12.04 install resulted in no launcher on screen
 

The launcher is non existent. The keyboard only works sporadically, cannot scroll through any drop down menus, no minimize or close buttons, the only thing that I did during installation was to choose keeping original CUPS, video driver has been auto identified as for a laptop but it is a desktop Samsung monitor with and Invidia driver. I need help big time.

Don't worry, I manage to get this type of thing a lot, but you will need to give a bit more info on your problem. What kind of setup do you have? Graphics card? Can you access a terminal?

If you are referring to the "create launcher" option to do things like creating a Desktop link, you are right. Ubuntu 12.04 uses a totally different method. One method:
