Unhappy Ubuntu 11.04 mic stopped working in HP G-32, but was working before.how to fix it?

Hello LInux Gurus!!

yesterday i was trying to make a skype call on my HP G32 (intel i5 ,radeon HD 5000), and i've realized that the mic wasn't coming on.I've connected a Headset but still i couldn't have the mic working.

since i've installed(clean installation) ubuntu 11.04 i've been using it to skype(call/video) with the mic without any special tweaking, and even without the ATI proprietary drivers.

I've tried re-installing the alsa as suggested here and it didn't work out. I ended up installing ATI drivers and still it's not working.

I don't remember touching anything that has to do with sound or mic configuration. how can i fix this? bellow is how sound preferences looks like with headset mic plugged or not.

thanks for reading and helping out

Hi there! What about the "Hardware" tab there? Which device configuration is selected? Please check that you have selected one that is input and output enabled.

There is your problem. Look in the "Profile" combo box and select an option that says "Analog input and analog output" or something like that. Your current configuration doesn't admit any kind of input signal.
