trouble with 2wire PC Port and Ubuntu

I decided to try out the Ubuntu live CD, and I really liked what I saw there. I am a Linux newbie--all I've done before was try to install mandrake, but I didn't really like that as much. The only problem with Ubuntu is, I can't figure out how to use the internet on it. My connection is through USB, through a 2wire PC Port. I'd really appreciate it if anyone could help me! Thanks!
