Trading Fedora for Ubuntu

I decided to switch my distro to Ubunto since Fedora apparently hates my system... I hear Ubuntu is really easy to use... Is there anything that I should know about installation? Any help would be greatly appreciated

And if your curious of the problems I had with fedora it is that for no reason at all it constantly wouldn't let me log in as a regular user and things would just act oddly for no reason

Ubuntu isn't any easier to use than Fedora or Mepis or Xandros or SuSE or Mandriva. It's not a matter of what's "easy," for the most part--it's about what recognizes your hardware best. Ubuntu recognizes all my hardware, so it's easy for me, but I've read plenty of posts about how Ubuntu couldn't get the sound or the external hard drive or the video card, etc. All that stuff worked for me and for a lot of people but not for everybody.

There's no magic distro that works for everybody's computer. Unfortunately, you do have to try out a bunch to see what works. I'd actually recommend Mepis. It's both a live CD and installer CD in one. So if the live CD recognizes your hardware and seems "easy" enough for you, you can just click the "install me" button on the desktop to install it.

Ubuntu's live and installer CDs are separate.

I would advise, though, that if you want to try out Ubuntu, you take a look at the Ubuntu Guide:

It's not really a matter of needing something extremely easy because I am now used to doing most of the neccesary things... I just don't want to get in over my head... but I'll definatly take your advice and try out Mepis... Thank's

Hi, I'm making that change also, but I have setled on Ubontu modified to KUbontu as I need KDE, but also want a lot of Gnome stuff. Take a look at this site.

It was a great help. It is taking me some time to get my feet wet in a debian distro, but no hangups yet.
