Touchpad scrolling problems after every Ubuntu 6.10 startup

I recently switched to Ubuntu 6.10 fro 6.06LTS, which fixed my 3d rendering woes, but now I still have other problems.
Strangely fixing the initial X installion issue mentioned in the FAQ of the 6.06 to 6.10 upgrade instructions page of the ubuntu website, also fixed my problem with my touchpad scroll feature...at least until my next boot.

So the problem is this:
I start up Ubuntu, and my touchpad scolling (touching the far right side of my touchpad) doesn't work.
If I then go back through:

"sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg"

my scrolling works again...but I can't go through this EVERYTIME I reboot!
Note my xorg.conf file does not change.

Please help, Thanks.
