Thunderbird update for Ubuntu 10.04?

For some weeks now I have been receiving a message when starting Thunderbird on my Ubuntu 10.04 machines
Quote:

THE CLOCK IS TICKING This version of Thunderbird will be obsolete from April 24th, 2012. You will no longer have the benefit of security and stability enhancements, therefore you will be at greater risk of security vulnerabilities and attack. We strongly recommend that you get the newest version now.
Thunderbird was installed from the Ubuntu repositories and I would prefer to update it from the repositories for obvious reasons. Does anyone have an idea when Canonical will add a newer version of Thunderbird to the repositories?

12.04 beta includes Thunderbird 11. I have not checked the Ubuntu versions in between.

TIA,

Ken

Several bug reports have been raised on this issue, but none have a clear-cut date. Since the latest Thunderbird will be included in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, due out on 26th April 2012, Canonical may not be allocating a high priority to updating the repositories for 10.04 LTS.

Numerous sources, including the Mozilla and Ubuntu forums, recommend adding the Mozilla-supported PPA to your software sources list. In a Terminal window:
Code:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/thunderbird-stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

Replace 'thunderbird' with 'firefox' and repeat and Firefox will also be updated and kept up to date.

Thanks 8oluf7. I may give that a try.

The update came this morning. A day late and a dollar short!
