Third hard drive prevents grub from installing
I dual booted ubuntu with 2 drives(win on the first) with no problems.
Then i reinstalled winxp and added a third drive.Ubuntu installs via the option "help me boot from cd rom" but when I reboot, grub does not appear to be installed .The grub to load from cd rom is still there so on boot up it still looks for the cd rom which has been removed.Ubuntu is installed but not grub. The installer does not give the option of where to install grub so I assume it is being installed on the wrong drive. Greatful for any help. |
You can install grub anywhere but before we can help we need some information on you hds. Boot your live cd and in terminal type 'fdisk -ls' as root without the quote marks and post the results.

I dont apear to have a root password. Cheers Dave |
I am not familiar with ubuntu but I believe you use 'sudo' before your first command such as
'sudo fdisk -ls' in terminal then hit enter without the quote marks. |
