themes installation problem plzzz help

I have downloaded 2-3 themes from gnome-look but could not use it...
Firstly I downloaded those tar.gz files on to my desktop after that I open the themes window and install theme but after giving the path it said invalid format...
Plllzzz help me ...what to do

It's easier to just drag-n-drop them over the themes windows. They'll get installed right away.

I have tried it too but it says that "File format is invalid" I really dont know why it's showing that... What should I do right now plzzz help...

If you double click on the files, can you browse their contents? I've had some broken (0 bytes) downloads which cause those issues.
Second, if the file does indeed open the usual format (inside the compressed folder) is something like:

NameOfTheTheme
    index.theme
    gtk-2.0 (for gtk themes)
    metacity-1 (for metacity themes)

Sometimes, builders (incorrectly you could say) pack 3 different themes inside a single .tar.gz or tar.bz2 file. You'll have to extract those "themes inside the theme package" and install them manually. This is not usually the case, but it's best to know why it sometime happens.
