the "/" key is stuck!

My / key is stuck, It's a dual booting laptop (so no, I can't just switch the keyboard, at least not without sourcing one) I managed to disable the / key in windows, now I'm wondering how to do it in Ubuntu, logging on is a nightmare, because it types in when I'm putting in a password, I'm hoping that there's a neat trick I can pull from the windoze partition, because doing anything in under linux at the moment is nigh on impossible, or perhaps there's a bootable cd that can be used to remap keys or something.

Please help it's driving me nuts!

have fun

dave

Maybe you could borrow an external keyboard to make the change in Linux.

You could activate SSH on this laptop and log in from another computer and block the "/" key like that ("nano" is a commandline text editor that could be used) (I'd try to remap it to 0 and see if the key is "blocked"). Since you most likely log in into a desktop (not the commandline), remapping the key only for X should solve the problem.

I always do ask google, sometimes my choice of keywords lets me down though...

Thanks for the responses, I'm sure they'll help.
