task bar gone

I am currently using Kubuntu 7.04 and out of the blue my taskbar disappeared. I am at a loss as to how to get it back. Any suggestions would sure be helpfully.
Thanks

It's not too easy but the way I got around that when it's happened to me in Ubuntu is...create a new user account and copy my documents, etc. to that new account. I hated doing it but it seemed to be the quickest way to get things working again. I never did figure out why that happened.
You could also upgrade to the newest version of Kubuntu. I think there's a 7.10...but that's even more of a hassle.

problem solved

Thanks for the info. I finally figured it out. The point and click method. Kubuntu only! Right click on the desktop. click on RUN COMMAND. Type ¨KControl¨ In KControl select ¨Desktop¨ then ¨Panels¨. Set your preferences and the taskbar is back.

a bit like a bull in a china shop , but you could delete your .gconf* and .gnome* directories for the user and at login they would be recreated - at default settings of course.

solved the same problem

i had the same problem on KUbuntu 9.10, so i tried the list of commands suggested in the link below for the vanilla 8.10...

http://www.watchingthenet.com/restor...-settings.html

oddly, the suggestion ends with just pkill gnome-panel
this makes little sense as you are not restoring the panel afterward, so i typed gnome-panel into the terminal afterward and only then did both the top and bottom panels reappear
