synaptic can't find packages

When I boot synaptic I get this:-

E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room
E: Error occurred while processing med-bio (NewVersion1)
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/ftp.de.debian.org_debian_dists_sid_main_binary-i386_Packages
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

Never had a problem before.

Any ideas?

Look at the file /etc/apt/apt.conf and change the line:
APT::Cache-Limit
to a really big number (like "20000000"; ).

^ and create the file if it doesn't exist and add the line if it's not there

Thanks guys, problem solved. I did need to add the line and now all works fine. Will this affect my system or is there no real reason for it not being sorted in the first place?
