switching ubuntu version and keeping repository
I am currently using several ubuntu computers in my network, and I have the repositories locally hosted. This allows me to update the repositories only, and then every other computer gets the updates from the local network, instead of having each one of them updating from the internet directly, thus consuming band width.
But the problem is that I am about to adopt ubuntu version 8.10, and I am afraid that I will need the repositories for 8.10, which is something really big to download and I have a slow internet connection. Is there a way to adapt the 8.04 repositories to start working as an 8.10 repository, possibly updating some packages but not having to download it completely?
