Wink I had a similar problerm

Hi!

You should look in ubuntu guide for a bug whic affects sound in some audio cards. I had a centrino laptop wich (i think) had the same sound card. In my case reinstalling alsa (with module-assistant) solved the problem. I can not remember the link but you now have clue XD. Look for the article, they have quite detailed instructions.

Sound

Go thru all the programs in your sound and video. Check that the sound is not muted. I had very low sound and couldn't figure it out. Turns out the sound in my xmms was turned way down and that affected all the sound.
Good Luck
