Here's my problem..

I'm using Hardy Heron and i've got some problem...
-- when i'm browse some web using FF and in the loading process, sometime my FF came stuck / hang / FF light become decrease and then increase again... and it happen in anytime !! did someone got like mine ??
-- when Hardy boot service SendMail, my laptop boot time became takes time more than a minute to pass the SendMail service.. why ??? if there's a way to make it faster ???

You might consider Epiphany the Gnome browser. It uses the same Gecko rendering and runs faster. Some sites are poorly designed and are slow to load with slower Internet connections. There is no need for sendmail if you the SMTP server of your ISP.

i'll try using Epiphany next time... but for the FF, not only for some sites, but even when i browse let say in a web using VBuletin, my FF got some that problem...

and for the SendMail, what did SendMail doing that cause my boot time came slower ??

DSL speed varies by what package you contract for and how far you are from a Central Office. Although always faster than dial up, bloated or inefficient sites can still be noticeably slower. Sites that are applications like webmail can be slow to respond but considering all the data base and back end server access that's understandable.

Sendmail as a networking application may be doing some hand shaking with the network. I don't run it. I use Gmail to handle all my email needs.

This sounds like either a DNS problem, or an IPv6 problem.

What is the contents of your /etc/resolv.conf file ? Does the nameserver entry point to your router's IP ?

hmm, FYI when i power on my laptop i don't connect it trough LAN... just stand alone laptop...
it's possible causing my boot time became long ???

Ok, I'm totally lost then as to what your issue is. Your first post indicated long web page load times and Sendmail hangs. Maybe you need to clarify what's up here.

There are likely startup programs that you don't need. I used the Sessions Preference to turn off what I don't need. I don't use "Tracker" and unchecked the two Tracker packages. You may not need "Visual Assistance" and "Bluetooth Manager". You may have also enabled "Folder Sharing" when looking through the various preferences.

Yes, both of them is my problem...
1st, when i'm power on my laptop i'm loading Hardy's and it's show alot of services and when it come to SendMail service, my laptops need 1-2 minute to pass the SendMail service and then show me a login page... FYI, in boot time i don't connect my SendMail through LAN... it's that because i don't connet through LAN / another issues ?
2nd, when using FF to browse some website, random website, sometimes my FF need long load times to load web page...and sometimes FF became hang !! but, when i'm using windows XP FF version 2.0.0.16 i don't have that issues..

Yes, i've unchecked the SendMail service to be loaded when power on my laptop... and my boot time became faster..
I'm just curious, why when i checked the SendMail service my laptop boot time became slower..

Loading the application and whatever data base or network housekeeping is required for server startup.

Sendmail is trying to resolve its hostname. If DNS is unresponsive, the stall occurs until DNS times out. If you are going to use Sendmail, you need to ensure your hostname can be resolved.

192.168.1.1 is my ADSL modem...
192.168.1.5 is my laptop...

We care about what's in /etc/hosts, your hostname, and if using DNS, whether or not your hostname is resolvable via DNS.

What is your hostname?
What is the contents of /etc/hosts?
