Streaming RTSP with ffserver

Hello,

I am trying to build a small surveillance system with some IP camea's. i am in need to server some client running on QT. I have a QT client software which is able to connect to any RTSP steaming server and can acquire the video and audio from it.
But i am not able to stream my data over RTSP using ffserver. i have searched the net and doing this from past many days but all in vain. Can someone post some help in regards to this ??

Thank you.

Hi

Have you tried looking at VLC as an option for streaming?

Hello,

I need a solution for the server side and not for the client side.
VLC can be used at the client side. For the client side my QT code works just perfect getting RTSP and HTTP dumps from some custom made RTSP and HTTP server.

As from the VLC website:

"VLC media player which can be used as a server and as a client to stream and receive network streams. VLC is able to stream all that it can read."

So if VLC can read your camera input(s), it can also stream them to your clients.

I have re-streamed inputs from http rtsp sources streaming out on different multicast addresses. I have also created Mosiac channels feature all available streams.
Ideal for a security system I would say.

Hyperthread,

Thank you for that valuable post dear .. but my main motto was not to use any third party software which can do this. Even OPEN_RTSP from ffmpeg will do just the same. My aim is to know how can we make FFSERVER stream RTSP ..

Any comments will be extremely helpful.

Hi

I found this URL on streaming with ffserver, what in particular are the issues you are having?

http://www.dexmac.com/index.php/how-...-with-ffserver

A bit more information on you client would be helpful in setting up a test rig.
