Sound from only one headphone from front panel. But works perfect from other jack.
Hello all,
Desktop machine Dell OptiPlex 330n running Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 LTS. Code:
Distributor ID: Ubuntu Code:
Linux IBDesk06 2.6.32-24-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP Thu Aug 19 01:12:52 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux Code:
chaitanya@IBDesk06:~$ lspci -v | grep Audio Any help why this is happening and if anyone else has the same problem. |

I think it's probable that this is a mechanical problem. I would get out my multi-meter and test for signal in contacts for the ports in the front. With this sort of problem, I've found it wise to rule out hardware first; all the software fixes in the world won't fix a hardware problem. |
I doubt the hardware problem. Windows works fine. Will still contact the Dell support and ask. Its still in warranty.

Slax might be a good choice, since it does not use Pulse Audio, which has a reputation for being quirky. I would be most interested to hear what happens when you call Dell and start asking questions about a dual boot Windows/Linux computer. That will probably be worth a thread all of its own. |
I am not sure if Dell is going to support if I keep using Ubuntu. But I would still give it a chance. Let me see if they have guts to help someone who uses Linux. I tried them calling for server and they do not even support windows server 2003. Strange.
