Since instal of Kubuntu, Pc clock moves up several hours?
 

Hello all.

I have a well ( though I don't know how to do everything in Kubuntu yet) working dual system with Kubuntu and xp pro..

Now since I installed Kubuntu last weekend, my pc clock does not keep the correct time, at least in XP.

It has moved up like 2 to 3 hours after I set it correctly. I believe this takes place after boot..
This has happened to me like 3 or 4 times this week and I just tested my batter and it's a steady 2.80 volts, so it should not be the battery. The bios say's the same thing. This all started after installing Kubuntu.

I've checked for Virus and spyware and every thing is clean in Windows. Not sure about Kubuntu though...



Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You can setup NTP for windows so that to pulls the correct time. All you have to do is right click on the time and setup the NTP protocol. It might slow down the boot of Windows a little bit but you will possess the correct time and date.

I have the same problem. It seems that Ubuntu should not be set to have the hardware clock in GMT. I enabled this during the install, however, I cannot find out how to disable it. If I did, I would and see if it solved the problem

i belieave you have to set the clock to local from UTC. THis can be done in a menu somewhere i cant remeber exactly where it is. But it is in the window where you would change the time. Just change from utc to local.

I don't have the time problem in Kubuntu, only in windows xp...

I had this problem in my dual-boot setup. Solved by editing /etc/default/rcs file. Find the line starting UTC, edit it to read UTC=no

What I don't understand is, Kubuntu's time was ok, it was only affecting windows xp.

Editing the rcs file would help that?
